About 14 weeks ago Orange offered me a free upgrade from my C500, so I went for a C550. About 2 days after having it, I stated to notice a slight echo when making / receiving calls. This got worse and worse and it started only what can be described as screeching! I phoned Orange to report it, and their system said it was a faulty handset so they replaced it. It has even screeched when I've been on the phone to Orange Customer Services! About 14 weeks later (read: now!) I've had 3 replacement handsets all with the same issue. Orange did say there was a "power imbalance" on my home cell which has now apparently been fixed. So - my problem still exists and I'm at the end of my tether with Orange and the C550! What can be done to resole this? Here are some questions which I have been asked by Orange: Problem exists when making and receiving calls: YES Can happen anywhere: YES - I travel around the UK for work and it happened in all the places I've been to - and supplied postcodes for them! Handset, battery and charger has been replaced on all three occasions! I have really lost it with Orange customer services as it's been 14 weeks without a decent working phone! Orange want to replace the handset again - but I'm getting fed up of clearing my data and re-installing apps on the new handset. The SIM hasn't been swapped out - although it was a new SIM with the C550 Upgrade - any chance it could be that? Any ideas on where I can go next? HELP! Well - to continue the story - Orange want the phone back for Tech Support, so on Saturday I phoned Orange to arrange my 4th handset - delivery on Sunday between 9am and 1pm. It's now just gone 2pm - been up since 8am - no ring on the doorbell. :twisted: Phoned Orange to see where it is: "Our system have gone down and it hasn't been dispatched" So yet another 1/2 day wasted waiting for a courier with a replacement handset... I'm really lossing it with Orange now! :twisted: :twisted: I have to phone again to re-arrange delivery! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: Does anybody have a number for a senior customer services rep I can contact to try and resolve this long running story? :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
Guest Tech Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 my advice: stick with C500. by far the best handset ever made for the SPV range. :o I had a C550 but then returned it within 1 day after starting a new contract... so i stuck with the new contract and go C500 instead - now i have 2xC500 :( there really isnt anything "big wow" about the C550 - apart from hot keys for WMP and a larger ROM
