Guest atownswhizkid Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Can someone tell me what is wrong and what i can do to fix?
Guest fluffcat1 Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Can someone tell me what is wrong and what i can do to fix? Your LCD is broken. The glasstop looks intact. You need a new LCD fitted. They aren't cheap. It may be cheaper to buy a working unit off ebay as a broken unit with an intact LCD is unlikely to appear on ebay anytime soon as they'll all still be under warranty for faults (other than broken LCD's...). Guest fluffcat1 Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 can i use a xda II the one you gave me the item number? Unlikely - your phone is a clone of the XDA IIs not the XDA II, as I stated in my reply to your other thread. Richard

Richard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You said in the other forum it would be easier to swap the whole unit what do you mean is it pdaparts.com and for search type in SX66 i was thinking of buying that one and putting it in myself. What do you think about it.

Their price includes fitting by their technicians, so I'd go for that if you can afford it. Swopping the entire display module is easier than removing the glasstop from a screen and fitting it to a new one. Only try it if either you're sure of your own skill or don't mind breaking a part you just paid $200 for :| Richard

No soldering required if you buy a screen with the glasstop fitted. Richard
Guest atownswhizkid Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 No soldering required if you buy a screen with the glasstop fitted. Richard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I ask the runpda user on ebay if he has a LCD for my S/N and if he does i can get it from him for under $160 and i would have spent only 300 in getting the phone and all the original accersories.I thank you for all of your assisitance in helping me determine which i should go with. If he doesnt have the LCD i will buy it from pdaparts.com for $207.

I have several blueangel boards requiring screens and am in no rush to fix them ,so I wait until the right donor comes up on ebay. I have tried to use PDAparts before and they got a bit confused with my order so I can't recommend them as I cancelled after a 3 month delay. I've never used runpda. Richard

Which part is cracked and how cheap can you get it for? If it looks like the one you have in the unit, leave it, it's no good. If it has a unform colour but has what looks like broken glass on top of it it may be of some use. Richard

Possibly. Ask for more / better pictures - they say the LCD is shattered but they may not know the difference between LCD and glasstop. I wouldn't go above $100 US regardless. Richard

Richard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So if the LCD is shattered then i shouldnt mess with it and if the glasstop is intact then i should buy it.
