M500 - Dialing issue

When I first got my M500, whenever I dialed a number, as I dialed it filters names from my contacts .... and I could then just select a contact and hit the Talk button ... and it would call that contact... !!!

However, since yesterday it's started acting weird. Whenever I select a contact in this way, when I hit call, it just dials the numbers I pressed to find the contact ....

eg: If I want to call TODD I press 8-6-3-3 .... I select TODD from the list of contacts, and press the talk button .... but instead of ringing todd, it rings 8633 .. which doesn't exist .... It does this with any contact now ?

I've looked at all the options, but have no idea why it's doing it in the first place and can see no way to make it do it how it originally did it ??

Any ideas ??

If you scroll down to the first Contact macth you can dial that person, otherwise you can just dial the number you entered.

I don't remember mine ever auto-selecting the first Contact match

In the dial screen, if you click on Tools and then Smart Dialing Options and let's compare settings (mine works fine still).

I've got Enable Smart Dialing, Enable Drag-Scroll, and Display numbers in standard format ticked, and enable double click for dialing unticked. I've also got scroll unit selected as one page.

My guess is that the Smart Dialing isn't enabled, but I've included the others in case it's one of them playing a silly game.

If it's not this - I haven't got a clue! Sorry. :o

My smart Dialing is enabled and is setup exactly like yours .....

As for the first reply It's not Auto selecting anything ... I'll explain

To dial TODD, I press 8633, and TODD's name as well as anything else with that combination appears in the list of names at the top. Then I select TODD, so that it is highlighted. At this point, with TODD highlighted I would expect to just hit the TALK button .... but instead of tialing TODD's number, which is still highlighted ... it dials ... 863bloody3 !!!

Anyone have any idea ? I'm thinking hard reset ...... but that's going to suck !!!!
