Wm5 Imap Bug?

I think this is the same problem as 2003...

Setup an IMAP email account (not using exchange) then perform a send and receive to get your emails.

Then delete them and perform a send and receive.

Then perform another send and receive and the emails come back.

You can even move them to the trash folder/delete them/delete them from the deleted items folder etc, etc and they just do not delete and keep coming back on the next send and receive.

Basically IMAP needs a purge option to permanently delete emails and WM5/2003 does not have this feature, so IMHO it is impossible to delete IMAP emails. Unless of course I am doing something wrong.....

pagemakers, its just less broken than before

Imap should never automaticly delete messages, it should flag them as deleted, POE's old action was to run a purge if it had deleted messages on the device, which is very very wrong on so many levels.

what WM5 isn't doing in your case is hiding messages marked for deletion, not having a universal to play with, check for a "hide deleted messages" tickbox or something like that

this is also a good read, just so you know what your server is supposed to be doing - http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2060.html

Yea. It does not have a purge option. So when you mark and item to delete and then do another send and receive the email comes back.

So what's the point of deleting in the first place?

With IMAP there is no way to permanently remove emails....

I have this same problem and I swear people do not believe me....

It does not mark them for deletion or anything. I would LOVE to get this fixed, it drives me crazy.

It does mark them as read, but deleting has no effect.

Here is my other post on this

Have you had any luck with this?
