C550 Keeps Returning To Home Screen

My previously perfectly behaved SPV C550 last night started spontaneously returning to the home screen while I'm trying to do other things (e.g. composing an SMS, looking at the settings, anything). Sometimes it locks itself, other times it just jumps back to the home screen as though I had pressed the home screen key, even though I hadn't. Also, holding down the 'hang-up' key does not always lock the phone any more. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it likely to be a hardware/keyboard fault or a software problem? It's most irritating!

Any help gratefully accepted. Murky buckets.

Have you changed the "time out" setting? under settings\homescreen\ ensure that time out is on never.

As for the other stuff, im not too sure

I had this problem when i had an e200. Try de-activating the phone lock (settings > Security and re-enabling it. Do the same for display time-out (settings > power management). Once they are de-activated, turn the phone off, back on again and set the settings to what you want. This worked for me, the settings seem to get lost or something, just wierd. Hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I tried this but when I was trying to put the PIN back in to re-enable the phone lock, it threw me back to the home screen again! It seems to happen whenever I press the '3' key, so I reckon it must be a keypad fault. Maybe some grid has got in there and is confusing the thing.

Thanks again for your quick responses, guys.
