finally got my PPC today... well, its at my parents waiting for me.

got the Imate Jam-Charcoal in the end from Phones2UDirect, they had 1 in stock and i bagged it.

so... next thing i need help with...

what GPS system should i go for?

i was looking at an all in one type thing that is basically a windscreen mountable holder for the unit with GPS receiver built in.

anyone got one or can recommend something?

I've got a Jam and just bought TomTom Navigator 5. I stayed away from the all in one cradle and receivers as with my work i need to jump in and out of several cars and i also plan on using it on foot. The bluetooth GPS receiver lets me do this without any problems and the software is very impressive.

there's the perennial thread of which GPS people prefer...a search is gonna help ya...

I use CoPilot 5 on a S100 and have had a minor headache with the s/ware forgetting who the BT receiver is. It took a coupla goes to do a full scan of 'COM'ports to find it again but other than that its been spot-on.

Some of the tweaks to 6 almost make it worthwhile paying the reduced upgrade fee...

Hi Mike

Can you let me know what GPS reciever you've got and the best place to buy it along with the software.

Good idea about making it portable. Doh!

I just got my MDA Compact with CoPilot 5 a few weeks ago. Works very well, I am suprised how accurate it is. Not had any software problems or connection problems.

I got the TomTom Navigator 5 package, it comes with the BT GPS receiver and the software. I bought it from rip-off-world because i needed it there and then. I think the cheapest place is www.ebuyer.co.uk

Enjoy!

PS: sorry about the late reply, i've been in London.....playing with the sat nav ;) (insert geek smiley here)

PPS: that wasn't the only reason for me being in London b.t.w.
