Guest ATB Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 (edited) Hi, I've got an i-mate SP5m and the internet access button leads to the i-mate.com website. I want to change it into a blank page, just to make it launch Internet Explorer. I found the file in the \Windows folder, it's called "Short_AP1" and it says the target is "\Windows\iexplore.exe http://www.imate.com". Does anyone know what to do? Edited October 11, 2005 by ATB
Guest Pondrew Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 Well, if it lets you edit the file in the /Windows folder why not edit out the "http://www.imate.com"?
Guest ATB Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 (edited) Sorry, I should have been more clear. I can't edit the file, so that's the problem. I found this in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE HARDWARE DEVICEMAP KEYBD (Default) String (value not set) CalVKey DWord 0 ContLessVKey DWord 0 ContMoreVKey DWord 0 DriverName String keybddr.dll EnableMusicKey DWord 1 TaskManVKey DWord 35 It should be one of these keys. Does anyone know which one and what to do with it? Edited October 11, 2005 by ATB
Guest trjg Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Hi, I've spent most of the day trying to solve this one and have finally cracked it! 1. Uncheck Read Only for the file \windows\Short_AP1 using the SP5m File Manager. Then copy it to your Pc 2. Drag it in to notepad and get rid of www.clubimate.com 3. Copy the revised Short_AP1 to your phone (but not to \windows) 4. Then use File Manager on the SP5m to move the revised file to \windows and overwrite it. #4 is the trick as if you try to use your PC File Manager it wont work Now you are free of a 600k download when you press the IE button! Guest shadamehr Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Handy tip indeed - what was new to me was the bit of using the Phone's File Manager to move it - interesting to see this works for locked files in this way - wonder if it works for the locked T9 custom dictionary files the same way too for my two SP5's so I only need do ONE phone, then copy the file over to the other this way too. Cheers mate.
