Guest marinovedder Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Hello I own a Samsung i600 with Verizon..... i am assuming lots of people have gotten the "unadequate system permissions" error when trying to install homescreens... i don't know anything about programming, so i'd like to know what's the problem... and if there is any solution.... can't those cab files be turned to .hme or something? can't i install from the .xml?? if so, how? thanks
Guest SinisterJunkie Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 The cab file itself is not the problem, but the registry edits to change the additional screens that is. You can unpack the cab file and manually transfer the files to your phone. When you unpack a cab file you will get a _setup.xml file and a series of files with sequencial extentions (*.001, *.002, *.003, etc.). The _setup.xml will tell you what to rename each file. Then you can transfer the file manually to your phone. Hope that helps clarify one of the i600 specific issues.

Guest Disco Stu Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 I don't think the application unlocking problem has ever been solved for the i600. See this thread : http://www.modaco.com/INADEQUATE_PERMISSIO...ES-t199965.html

If your running WM2003 then your phone is application unlocked, but you will still have trouble with some registry edits. Hope this helps.

I have a Verizon i600 also and still use it today, so I know what you are going through. I have gotten many homescreen here to install with a bit of work (The link above posted by Disco Stu will briefly explain the process). Unless your phone is brand new and Verizon or Samsung have done something new, you should be able to install most cab files. The trouble I have had is when you attempt to change certain areas of the registry. If you link to the homescreen you are trying to install, I would be willing to take a look and explain in detail what can be installed and how.
