Help with PDA2 and GPS carkit

I have this car kit for the PDA2 from Expansys

Does anyone know why it appears that you cannot the phone whilst the Sat Nav is in use and vice versa?

I'm using the Tom tom software for navigation. Could it be that doesn't allow simultaneous connections to the Sat Nav and Handsfree?
