Guest marianocifre Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Hi, I read in an excellent review that the K-JAM has alloy parts and the QTek has some plastic parts. Does anybody know which are those parts? Does anybody note another difference between them? Thanks, -- mariano enrique cifre _// buenosAires_argentina ___________________ _no brain, no problem_
Guest sgeary Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Hiya mate This review isnt really a fair comparison of the devices as the Qtek is a pre-produstion model. " but I realized that the unit I was sent is a pre-production device, and the splash screen even states that it is a test unit. As a result, the QTEK 9100 had a few issues" So personally im just reading this type of review for the sake of it as im yet to come across a review that compares two full retail versions. To be honest i dont think there are any major changes at all just minor like the colour but i might be wrong.
Guest MrDSL Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 I can't confirm but I read somewhere that the imate comes with a 2yr warranty and the qtek is a 1yr. I also heard there would probably be more ROM updates with the imate also..
Guest thereaperman Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 yeah with the imate you get two years warranty, and i fond the support from imate much better, come on you know you want one :o

So I wanna be sure. Up to now, Imate's winning in my desicion... I check Mad Monkey Boys Gadgets and there are no imate in stock. I have to wait till 24. And then, wait for a friend of mine to come to Argentina. Oh, my god! It's a lot of time!! -- mariano enrique cifre _// buenosAires_argentina ___________________ _no brain, no problem_
Guest jonhitch Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 From what I understand the 2 units will be almost identical apart from the following. 1. The Qtek has a grey screen surround instead of silver 2. The keyboards may be slightly different colours (Imate = black; Qtek = grey) 3. Usually Imate offers 1 year warranty and it's Qtek that offers 2 years! This is dependent on country I think. 4. Imate has improved support - ROM updates, english website etc. 5. The software bundled with the units may differ slightly too. I think it's the aesthetics and customer support that are the main differences. I'm really looking forward to my Qtek 9100 - decided the extra £60 wasn't justified for the Imate - especially considering I prefer the look of the Qtek!

Now that more members have the Wizard, can anyone tell us more differences between the two models? In another topic I told about some alloy parts in the Imate, but nobody knows... Thanks,

In another topic I told about some alloy parts in the Imate, but nobody knows... Thanks, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The fascia consists of 2 parts. The gunmetal grey part immediately surrounding the display is plastic & has QTEK printed on the bottom centre in blue. The main fascia is definately ALLOY & not plastic. When viewed side on the kjam is all silver whereas the qtek is gunmetal grey in the middle. I personally prefer the the look of the qtek because of the contrasting colors but that is just a personal thing.
Guest politby Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I'm trying to find a combination headphone/headset for my Qtek 9100 that is of better quality than the horrible low-quality one which came with it. I have seen reports of people successfully using Seidio (www.seidio-europe.com) 2-in-1 headsets with the i-Mate K-Jam, but at least one report that says they won't work with the Qtek 9100. This would indicate that the headphone socket/standard is not the same on the i-Mate and Qtek version. Can this really be the case? /P O Litby Stockholm
