Does this device seriously only take minisd? i was really surprised... i was actually thinking of getting one, but what if you ever want to add something? sure it's got wi-fi... but you can never add a new sort, or an fm radio, or newer version of bluetooth, or even use the 1gig card you invested in. what a waste... i seriously was interested, too.

Ultimately I think miniSD will replace SD - especially as devices become smaller and convergence continues. You can get an adaptor to allow miniSD cards to be used in SD devices (sold with miniSD cards from Sandisk) although I appreciate you can't do the opposite.

As for capacity 1GB miniSD cards are out already and I've heard it won't be too long before 2GB and 4GB ones are out! Very impressive! I can see that currently SD cards are also used for addition of wifi, fm radio etc - again I'm sure they will be integrated into miniSD in the near future.

i guess... then we've got the microsd or whatever it's called now.

but you make some excellent points. minisd certianly does have the smaller form factor.

anyone heard anything about plans for a miniSDIO format?

maybe a swapmeet for people with sd seeking mini, and vice versa? lol

wow, nice marian! thanks for pointing that out.

So that PDA's miniSD slot supports SDIO... it must just be the same tech on a smaller scale. Anyone know if there's a way to tell if the Wizard supports SDIO or not? If it does for future miniSDIO cards, i'm definitely getting this thing.

Anyone know how to find that out in the specs?

I've never understood why somebody would want to buy an CF/SD FM Radio. They stick out ridculously.

Regarding miniSD, having to buy a new card was a small price to pay (AU$63 to be exact).

just bad design. We've all seen sd wifi cards that stick out like god knows what, and also ones that are very slimline.

Besides which, i wouldn't mind it sticking out if i just put it on for a morning walk. And why can't one be designed that can flex down? fold alongside the phone.

And yeah i know the minisd would only be 6-70 au$, but the thing is i just spent that on a 1gig normal sd, 70 bucks. i need to do something with that, don't i? I'm not collecting them.

Oh well. need to use foresight for those purchases i guess. I just hope it is expandable, because it's insane to think that any device has everything built in and always *will* - it's not totally futureproof.

I bought a 512Mb miniSD card last night on eBay for AU$63 delivered for my K-JAM when it arrives. When I sold my XDA Mini, I sold the 1Gb SD I use in it with it. I bought a 512Mb miniSD because I really don't need a gig anymore for my phone. I used to use my PDA for both video and music, by my iPod nano (2Gb) and PSP (1Gb and 512Mb for videos/homebrew apps) cover those bases now. I just wanted the Wizard for its PDA functions, WiFi, email, msn, web, etc. 512MB will more than cover that, and will still have some space to store a couple of selected songs.

1Gb miniSD was about AU$120-125 delivered on eBay. If I ever need it, I can always get one later when they are cheaper.

Hi Guys, i'm one of those lurkers that reads but doesn't have much to say. Desperately waiting for the Wizard to be released on Orange...

Anyway, where to buy 1gig miniSD is something I CAN help with. MobyMemory are a sight that i've used when I bought a 512mb miniSD for my C500. Great service and they've got 1gig Sandisk miniSd in stock for £49.99.

Nick.

I got a 1GB card of this eBay user, used him a couple of times for memory cards and his prices, even after postage and insurance, still shave of about a fiver of most UK suppliers.

(Word of warning: Don't forget to check all possible ebay sellers out yourself, no matter who recommends them)

Well, i just checked out texas instruments' site with specs for the omap 850 processor - it does support sdio, so it stands to reason the wizard's minisd also supports sdio.

Good to know ;) fairly future-proof then.

I figure it would be, as it would be silly to include a SD memory only slot in such an advanced device. I know the iPAQ 6515 has miniSDIO. They have tried a Spectec miniSD WiFi card in it and it works perfectly. Maybe somebody will give it a try in a Wizard to test it.

I ordered a 1 gig one lunch time last Friday from www.picstop.co.uk for £44.80 inc P&P. Its Sandisk and comes with the full size SD adapter so you can use it in SD / mini SD devices. It arrived 11am Saturday morning.

Thought I'd revive this thread, rather than start a new one. - Cheap Mini SD -

Picstop are currently out of stock, but they're the cheapest I've managed to kelkoo / froogle for so far.

http://www.picstop.co.uk/Secure-Digital-(S...niSD-Card---1GB

£42.90 (+ £1.90 p&p)

MobyMemory - Sandisk 1Gb is currently £46.99 (+ £1.20 p&p)

MyMemory.co.uk - £47.99 (+ £3.95 p&p)

http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/SanDisk/1...e/Phone/Memory)

Expansys - pic is of a Sandisk, but it's listed as Expansys memory ?

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=118583

£47.95 (+ £4.95 p&p)

Topman RichardD, thanks for posting those, I'm toying with getting another or either waiting for some larger capacity ones to come out.
