Guest Steev Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Hi I'm trying to decide between these two O2 pocket PCs. On the face of things the specs seem very similar. The only thing setting them apart from my point of view is the versions of windows and obviously the keyboard on the exec. Can you please give me your thoughts and experiences with each model. Which one would you recommend? Cheers S
Guest Pondrew Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 XDA Exec all the way. The HTC Alpine specs do still sounds good but it's quite an old device now and given the Exec includes WM5, VGA resolution and 3G there is no contest (unless it's on price).
Guest Steev Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Thanks Pondrew. I was thinking along the same lines. I do like the look of the Alpine but the Exec has better features. Is there much of a size difference? Think I might go to an O2 shop and ask to see them both. Cheers S
Guest Pondrew Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Good idea to see them both in the flesh as the Exec is quite a bit thicker and a little bigger then the IIi
Guest Steev Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I had a look at both today in the O2 shop. If functionality was the only thing i wanted I would definitely go for the Exec but the Alpine is a better size. I need the phone to fit reasonably comfortably into my pocket. However the guy in the shop said there were rumours that a phone called the Xda mini pro was going to be released soon. from the sounds of it he was describing a Wizard or something very similar. has anybody heard anything about an O2 release of the wizard because if there was I'd definitely hold off and wait for that. Or do you still think the Exec is a better phone than the Wizard? Cheers S

That might sound like it's not big issue, but I've got to say I use that key a whole LOT on my Exec. Having said that, I might have been prepared to swap the VGA screen for a smaller size if the Wizard had UMTS.
Guest Samsonite Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 is the XDA Mini Pro the Atom or the Wizard?
Guest Pondrew Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 is the XDA Mini Pro the Atom or the Wizard? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a name that was associated with the HTC Wizard on O2. But then, so since then the name XDA Mini S seems to have replaced it.
