Guest daddyeo Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 i have recently purchased a second hand spv c500 for my wife from ebay everything seems ok with the phone we have put a couple of ringtones on the storage card to keep the phone clear it plays the the realtone fine one minute then after no set amount of time (i.e first time it happened was after three days then i rest the phone to factory settings via clear storage it seemed to solve the problem ) then it happend again after 1 day so i performed the hard rest as described on this site that was last night and now this morning the phone has stopped recognising the tones again. i dont know if it has anything to do with it but it seems that after we spend a evening trying to work her bluetooth the problem seems to come soon after! we have not actually managed to send anything via bluetooth i managed to send her a file once (i have a spv e200) i have installed smart explorer on both phones. at the moment the pv player will recognise the file and play, but when you try to set the tone as a the ringtone the phone stops responding it doesnot actually crash it just will not play any tone that we have added it will play all the standard tones. one last clue is = the first time the phone started playing up all the little menu pictures turned into ditorted wavy line ,corrupt. any help from you geniuses would be great is the phone f    ked hope not
Guest martin Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 It could be a problem reading from the SD card :| Try copying one of the ringtone files to phone memory in \Storage\Application data\Sounds and then check if it's an option in the Sound menu. Do you have the latest ROM on the phone ?
Guest daddyeo Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 i have just tried taking the card out and putting direct to phone storage no luck and yes i have tried upgrading to rom 4.1.1.4 what is the best format of ringtone to put on the c500 thankyou for your help
Guest martin Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 If you put a valid ringtone into the \Storage\Application Data\Sounds directory and you can't see it then try turning the phone off and on. I've had this happen a few times. I used to convert all my MP3 ringtones to MP4(AAC) and I had no problems with them but many people use WMA. I store all ringtones on SD card in \Storage Card\My Documents
Guest daddyeo Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 i can see one of the tones but it will not play/preview set as ringtone i have tried turning it on and of a few times no joy
