Guest fluffcat1 Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Hello The screen is (obviously) pressure sensitive - what case if any do you use when it's in your pocket etc? It could be that the plastic membrane has stretched or moved although usually this is associated with the glasstop below it shattering. Can you see any scuffs / marking on the plastic, and does the gap between the metal casing border and the plastic look uniform all the way around the edge? I saw one once that was behaving similar to this as it had streched with the heat from being left in a tight case in a car on a hot day. Richard
Guest Amansur Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 no nothing found around the edges, i have about 4 minor scratches on the lcd touch screen, is this repairable?

I wouldn't think they are the cause of the problem. The touch membrane is plastic so unless they have cut right through they are only a cosmetic problem. I use CD restorer polish to buff out minor scuffs but be careful - you don't want to stretch the plastic. Before we go any further - is your phone under warranty? It should be - standard XDA warranty is 2 years. Check before we try anything else. Quote from www.my-xda.com: Q3 What is the warranty period? A3 In Europe,The Xda II has a 24-month warranty. The exceptions to this policy are the battery - which has a 6 month warranty - and damage to the device which cannot be classified as a manufacturer fault (for example, a cracked screen or body). Guest Amansur Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 its been used for about 6 months now, i bought it off a friend, he does not have the purchase receipt does that matter? i wonder if they keep track of the warranty in their databases. its really werid because the screen works for a while then stops and then goes back to working state for about 1 min then stops again and keeps going on and on.

Speak to o2 customer services. The warranty is not transferrable IIRC - see the terms at http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/Xda_Warranty.pdf - so your friend will have to do it for you. The lack of receipt shouldn't be an issue if he signed up for the handset they will have the paperwork. Sadly they're not as helpful as other HTC resellers providing an online validation tool etc, but hey, you've got a longer warranty than from other resellers so they must have faith in their product and value their customers..... ARE YOU LISTENING ORANGE???? :x Richard
Guest Amansur Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 im all the way in new zealand, i wonder if their are any service centres here that repair these kind of problems.
