WiFi is Wireless networking. It allows you to connect to PC-type computer networks or go online using wireless access points (like mcdonalds and cafe nero)

If you've got it on your phone you can go on the net quicker and potentially cheaper and make calls using internet phone progs like Skype. You can also communicate with other PCs if they've got compatible wireless.

Most phones aren't Wifi enabled. It uses more battery so it tends to be missed. It is only useful to some people so isn't really missed by most.

Now for your question, what phone do you have? chances are unless it's

one of the very latest phones you will not have wi-fi on your device.

Your phone does not have wifi and you can not download anything to enable it as your phone does not physically have the hardware needed.
