Guest webcore Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 (edited) I am now at my witts end with my new Xphone. It will not connect via GPRS to the Internet as advertised. I was given instructions by customer support that did not correspond with my phone. I told them that my phone was the Xphone. "What number is it? x-1, x-2, x-3?"They asked. I replied "It's just an Xphone". They say that the Xphone isn't even supported and it won't ever be released in the UK. (I bought mine from Germany via Ebay), therefore the GPRS may not work. Just to confirm, is it possible to connect to the internet via GPRS with the Xphone in the UK on 02? I've searched everywhere and I can't find anything directly related to this. Anything that I find doesn't work. If so, what are the settings? I was given the following by 02 via email which doesnt work: Name O2 WAP GPRS APN payandgo.o2.co.uk Default URL http://payandgo.O2.co.uk Port 9201 Security Off IP Address 193.113.200.195 Linger time 120 seconds Username: payandgo Password: password I don't appear to have half of these things on the phone in data connections. Guest webcore Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 I've managed to get Internet Explorer to connect, but the pages don't load. Needless to say I get charged for this. Slow as hell. Rubbish. Can anyone advise?
Guest martin Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Hi webcore The xphone should work fine with O2 UK. Try this topic for GPRS setup ;) http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=227853&hl=payandgo

Guest webcore Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 I have tried this also (posted by youself) using Genie settings too. No luck: I assume you have a prepaid SIM and not a contract. Start by deleting all existing dialup, proxy and GPRS settings and then try the following. Start>Settings>Data Connections>Menu>Edit Connections GPRS Connection: Description: O2 GPRS Wap Connects to: The Internet Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank Proxy connection: Description: O2 WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: Wap Network Proxy(name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080 Type: HTTP Username: Password: In the main data connections menu make 'WAP connection: O2 GPRS WAP' In Internet explorer, Menu-Options-Connections, untick 'automatically detect settings' and make 'Select network: WAP network. Try accessing http://www.google.com If you get an 'unable to connect' error then change the GPRS connection to Genie settings. Access point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: geniewap Password: password MMS setup GPRS connection: (use whichever APN, username, password that works above) Description: O2 MMS Connects to: Secure WAP network Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: blank In the main data connections menu. Secure wap connection: O2 MMS Start>Messaging>Media Messages>Menu>Options>Account Setup>Media Messages Menu- Edit connections - Menu- Add Server: O2 MMS Download Messsages: automatically Outgoing message size: less than 100kb Allowed message types: personal Menu>Edit connections Description: O2 MMS MMSC Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 Data Connection: Secure WAP network Gateway: WAP 1.0 Gateway I.P Address: 193.113.200.195 Port: 9201

Guest martin Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Have you tested your SIM in another phone to make sure that GPRS is working from your cell ? If it does work then can you confirm the GPRS settings in that phone ? Do you have a contract or prepaid SIM ?
Guest martin Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 The first settings that you posted are slightly wrong if you are trying to get GPRS WAP using an O2 contract SIM. Make sure you have these settings and then try connecting to an HTML site like www.google.com GPRS Connection: Description: O2 GPRS Wap Connects to: The Internet Access point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: o2wap Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 I.P address: (must be blank) Proxy connection: Description: O2 WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy(name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080 Type: HTTP Username: Password: In the main data connections menu make 'WAP connection: O2 GPRS WAP' In Internet explorer, Menu-Options-Connections, untick 'automatically detect settings' and make 'Select network: WAP network.
Guest webcore Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I am unable to test on another phone. The settings at present are the ones you posted above. I have tried these setting previously and they didn't work, so they arent working now. I am on payango.
Guest mayouk30 Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I am unable to test on another phone. The settings at present are the ones you posted above. I have tried these setting previously and they didn't work, so they arent working now. I am on payango. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a complete working O2 SPV!!!! Complete settings as follows: (Connection names are just the ones i used, they're not important as you probably know) Connection name: O2 Internet Connects to: Internet Access Point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: o2wap Password: password Primary DNS: 193.113.200.200 Secondary DNS: 193.113.200.201 IP address: Blank In the "data connections" screen use these settings to connect to "internet connection" Then in the MMS setup screen, use the above profile with the following: IP: 193.113.200.195 Port: 9201 Mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 Now for the internet..... Connection Name: O2 GPRS Connect to: Internet Access Point: wap.o2.co.uk username: o2wap password: password primary/seconday DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP address: 193.113.200.195 In the "data connections" screen use these settings to connect to "wap connection" Now send a MMS message and try your internet, and in principle it should work - don't give up first time though, I've just been testing mine and 2 out of 5 times the connection failed.
Guest martin Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I am on payango. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>In that case APN wap.o2.co.uk should give you a connection fail. You will need to use the Prepaid APN Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password This should NOT give you a connection fail and the small G next to the signal bars should stay active.
Guest webcore Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Thanks for the replies. I have tried the above settings with both APN's and usernames. None work for me. When using the payandgo APN do the DNS and IP adresses remain the same as above? Also where is the MMS setup screen? I guess this could be the problem as I can't find it to set it up. I only seem to have the SMS and Activesync options.
Guest webcore Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 Found the MMS settings and changed accordingly. Still won't connect.
