Help! Start Menu doesn't open

Hello everyone. I would really appreciate your help with this.

After intsalling a couple of programs on my Qtek 8020 (same as imate SP3i) and restarting my phone, when I press the left soft key, the start menu does not open, even though the button works (I know this since it works for any other function). The start area becomes selected (gets its deeper blue color when I pressed the left soft key and during I'm pressing it remains that way) but nothing opens.

I do not have the slightest idea what might be the reason for that. And of course I'm really desperate for a tip.

Has anyone got this problem before?

Anoyone that can help me on thsi.

Thank you all in advance.

Hi. Welcome to MoDaCo.  ;)

Kindly try this CAB file:

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=Attach...e=post&id=15595

It reverts value of HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSSart/1 to appman.exe -s BootApps :MSStart tpcutil.dll AMStart

Thank you for the quick response.

I transfered the file into the phones memory and run it.

Unfortunately nothing happened, the start menu is still missing.

I should say here that it takes a lot of time for the phone to start up after reseting it. ALso, I should say that I have erased all the 3 programs I had just installed (QuickReset, PocketSnapIt and custom_settings).

Anyone has anything else to recommend. I'd try everything, I really cannot work with my phone right now and i'm leaving on a business trip in a couple of days.

Thank you again in advance for your help.

Thats weird. Have you tried a restart after the cab installation?

Unless the 8020 uses different registry value than 'appman.exe -s BootApps :MSStart tpcutil.dll AMStart' then the above cab file will not work.

You can isolate your problem. Try to disable the 'custom settings' you have mentioned.

I have told you in my previous post that I have uninstalled all of the apps including custom settings.

I thought that uninstalling all of them would solve the problem but it didn't.

O sorry if I missed that one.

I can no longer think of other ways to deal with your problem. Have you considered a hard reset? It will erase all your phone data but should theoretically give you a fresh phone after (aka back to factory default)

I have considered the hard reset, but as the last resort.

I would prefer if I didn't have to do it during these days due to the fact that this week is my worst as far as my free time is concerned.

Anyway, I think it seems that I have no other options but the hard reset. If anything else comes to your mind (or anyone else's of course), it wil be much appreciated.

Thanks for trying to help me, I hope that my next posts will be about not so unpleasant things. Glad to have joined your forum, it seems that here I can find everything about my smartphone and even more.
