How do I get my contacts off my phone on to the desktop?

Use ActiveSync and set up a partnership which includes syncing with Outlook.

Do you have the companion CD that came with the phone ?

If not you can get it from Microsoft's website for free - follow Windows Mobile / Downloads links and you're probably better off getting 3.8 rather than 4.0 if it is still available.

Follow the instructions on installation but don't connect the phone until prompted.

It's pretty straight-forward but come back if you have any problems.
