Guest andrewsexton Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 Hi, Is there a way i can pick up my AOL Email on my Orange SPV C500? Thanks Andrew
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 If you follow the AOL Mobile links in the PC browser you will eventually find a guide on how to do it. Basically it involves setting up a password and them sending you a personal wap link by email. You then have to manually enter the address into Pocket IE so remember to save it as a favourite when you've connected. I also forwarded the email to my Orange.net address so that I would have a clickable link on the phone for those times when the Favourites link didn't work. And for some strange reason it didn't on several occasions  A tip is to always log out of the service on your phone after you're done as this seemed to cause problems if I simply hung up.

Guest Disco Stu Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I'm not at home so can't get you the exact link on AOL. Try putting 'mobile' into Keywords - although there was a link on the front page. You'll fill in a form which includes choosing a login password and selecting your phone from a list. The phone that AOL use to illustrate the service is an Orange C500 but you won't find it on the list - choose Other instead. Likewise you will be told that they don't have the instructions for your phone. Probably a good thing when you think about it. I'll get you connected. Once you have regsitered and got the email on your PC from AOL start Internet Explorer on the phone. Hit Menu then Address Bar. Now put the cursor into the address bar and backspace carefully until you have just "http://" and complete the rest from what AOL have just sent you. The full address will start http://mobile.aol.co.uk/servlet/...something or other personalised for your own account ! It will take you ages to type it in so be careful to get it right first time as you don't want to have to do it again :D Don't expect this to work first time, it never does. AOL will probably need to update their email server (or something) and that might take a couple of days. Then again you might get instant access. Eventually you will get a screen headed "Sign in to AOL" and you enter your 4 digit PIN (I said password, but you know..) and you then have the AOL mobile browser. First link is Email. ;)
