Guest geekycomputerdork Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I've been using a smt5600 for about 6 months now and also am using an HP ipaq rx3115. I find that I don't use either device as much as I should or could becuase I'm constantly unable to decide which is the best for me. I carry round the phone but wish it did more that my pda can do and find that the pda is great except I can't get the GPRS functions to always work so I don't always have internet. I also find that I would use it more if it could just make phone calls. I have been interested in getting a PDA with a built in Cell phone capabilities but fear that the device may perform to slow. In addition I would like to get your knowledge and experience of what works and what is a waste of my time. I would also like to get a pda with built in Keypad. I really like the 02 xda exec, jasjar, or m5000 but not sure if WM2005 is really worth it since nothing is available for it as of now. At the same time I like the slider keyboard's where you don't seem to lose screen size. I'm really really interested in something New and really would like your advice. PLZ help all information is helpful
Guest Samsonite Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I was in a similar position a while back. Its a personal preference type of scenario really... In terms of performance, i went from an E200 and Acer n30 PDA to a Magician variant. I cant say i have any issues with speed of the device for anything i need but i am a laid back kinda guy!! One factor you would consider is how you will use the phone side of things. The big devices look alittle cumbersome to squish up to your ear. Sure you can use a BT headset but then that may not be something you want all the time... I couldnt comment on the WM5 side of things.. no experience of the system yet. I find that a PDA/Phone all-in-one is its own beast rather than a marriage of the two, if you see what i mean.... Where you compromise, it actually focuses on what the device can do rather than what each individual unit couldnt. If you only have the one, you're never wanting the other one!! i am surgically attached to my S100 and highly recommend it to every phone-nut i know! I do wonder how much i would actually use a slideoutkeyboard but it probably end us as unnecessary ballast after a while...
