Guest John.medhurst Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 (edited) Having used my Co-Pilot bt gps for over a year now, I'm getting a bit tired of charging it in the car and forgetting and getting lost when it runs out of juice... I want to hook it up to the battery and keep it out of sight,.. Has anyone done this, or can anyone offer any tips, foreseeable difficulties/best places to mount/whether or not to remove the rechargeable battery or not etc... Any assistance gratefully rec'd. Cheers, John Edited October 24, 2005 by John.medhurst
Guest Samsonite Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 cant answer from experience but i looked into some ways of doing this when i got the new company car... Best option i could come up with was getting an external antenna for the unit (an Emtac BT thing from expansys) and 'engineering' a feed from the lighter socket to a secondary socket in the glove box. Wiring the antenna onto the dash or windcsreen. One thing to consider is how good your bluetooth is. If the GPS is located in the back window, say, you may not get a good link bearing in mind some of the lacklustre bt efforts from some of these things... :-s post back if you do get it done...might provide me the impetus to have a go :-k
