Guest daveeeeeed Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Hey guys, I've used an SPV C500 on Orange in the UK for the past year and am nearing the end of my contracted 12 months. I would like my next phone to be another smartphone and don't care which network it is on. I like HTC phones, but am not set on one. My requirements are as follows: - Windows Smartphone (not Pocket PC Phone Edition) - WiFi (v. important) - Small-ish handset - Not too expensive as I tend to go for tarifs with a hefty monthly contract charge (typically £100), so can normally get better phones cheaply or free. Does such a thing exist? Is there a version of Skype available for the Smartphone platform yet? Any help or advice greatly appreciated David.
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 The ONLY Windows Smartphone with WiFi so far is the iMate SP5 Good spec: WM5, 64Mb + 64Mb, WiFi, and nice looking too (IMO) But there is no version of Skype that allows VOIP for the Smartphone, the version that's out only does messaging
Guest GuyAdams Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Im waiting for delivery of my brand new i-mate SP5 in the next week or so. I had exactly the same requirements as you. I purchased this package, complete with a Vodafone contract: http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=126513 (Hope the admins dont mind me posting this link, if they do then I apolgise in advanced) I too was on Orange but decided to ditch them after several arguaments on the phone with Orange reps and the shockingly bad decision on their behalf to remove WiFi from the SPV C600.
