Faxing from Pocket PC Phone edition

Okay so it's a step back 20 years but many businesses still rely on fax and as a result, I need to be able to fax from my Orange SPV M500.

I can't find any information on how to go about this or even any software which makes it easier.

Does anybody have an inkling about how I might go about it? :??:

My understanding is that Orange haven't enabled fax capabilities on the network.

Don't ask me what that means because I'm just repeating what I read elsewhere and am relying on the post responders agreement to the statement ! :?: ;)

Orange do have Fax capabilities, I have my own Orange Fax number from the days when I had a Nokia Communicator. The number still works but I dont have anything set up on my M500, maybe I should give this a try!

What about KSE Truefax? It's preinstalled in many roms and resides in the Programs menu.

Yeah!

Why didn't TigerNet think of that, eh? :D ;)

Another clueless contribution from me :

Would Superchimp need an Orange fax number then, as Dade suggests ?

(This doesn't make sense to me anyway - it's just data...)

If so, does he need an Orange business account to get one ?

I tried to get Truefax working on my Jam but it wasn't having it :?:

I've just been reading up on KSE, and it looks like a hacked solution - it works by switching the phone off and using the modem, then switching it back on again. There are also comments in there that some phones may be hard reset by installing the app. :gulp:

Not something I'd try myself (sounds like it wouldn't work on an M500 anyway if it doesn't on a Jam)

On a related note I always used to use web-based services for faxing. You can get a fax number, associate an email address (or two), and send/receive faxes via email. The fax itself is generally attached as a TIF, so you need a TIF viewer (preferably one with good zoom options, and drag scrolling IMO).

Hi guys, I have KSE fax installed today as a ROM upgrade, but when I try it I get no carrier detected, the phone is a XDA2s any ideas.

the rom was from O2 so it should be official

Thanks
