c550 or c600 - help?!?!

Basically I'm getting a new contract on orange. I currently have the c500. I am unsure whether I should wait for the c600 to come out or just go ahead and get the c550?

At the moment orange are giving away a 512mb mini sd card with the c550.

What are your guys suggestions?

If your prepared to wait then wait but im not sure what the differences are between the two except that the c600 runs on Windows Mobile 5

I miss my c500, as sad as that sounds...

The c600 appears to be the 500's successor, I've got the 550 and wish I'd waited for the c600... The layout of the joystick and soft keys is rubbish, and prominence of media buttons that I personally NEVER use is more than annoying.

The phone is big too,.. the c600 looks a lot slicker and the 550 is kinda silver, you know the kind of silver that scratches off??? Disappointing.

Not to mention the WM2003, again WM5 looks a lot slicker.

Wait for the c600!

I think John is right. I have both Audiovox SMT5600 (C500) and Orange C550. I like both of them. It's personal pref; I like the C550 finish and music button set up because I use them everyday. Too bad we can't re-assign those buttons to some apps. QVGA screen is great. Good part about Wm 2003 SE: Availability of great apps, most of bugs are kinked out and I find it the OS quite stable (considering its WM). Bad part about WM2003: Most likely, developers will not develop new apps for this OS (just a guess).

C600 has Wm5-newer OS but not sure how stable that would be as I have not used WM5 yet. I personally would wait at least 6 months to see what this newer OS has to offer and how the new and existing apps run on this OS. What I have heard is positive things. Since we don't get Orange C550 for free here in the States and have to pay the full price but there are no strings attached. Once C600 comes out and if everything is stable, I can always sell mine on eBay or even locally here to my friends.

I think the best thing to do would be to see what features do you want the most. I fyou are leaning towards C550, go to Orange shop, hold the phone and may be make a call or two and see if it feels "right" in your hands. This is very subjective matter.

However, if you are not in a rush, wait for C600 and then you can compare side-by-side but then again by then there will be few newer models available from different mnfrs. There is always going to be something "new". Just pick the most wanted features and stick with it. Just one foot note: iMate SP5 and SPM have same specifications as C600 but key layout is very different. I would personally buy C600 if I could. Confusing? Welcome to the world of smartphone ;)

Yea i think you are right passion. i'm gona go into an orange shop tomorrow and ask if i can demo the c550. basically i want to use it alot for music but also the look and feel has got to be right. im kinda sick of my c500 at the moment. ive had it for just under a year. so maybe a change of scenery is what i need.

anyway like i said im gona have a look tomorrow at it and see what i do from there.

You are right!! I got so involved with Keypad layout that I totally forgot about wi-fi ;)
