Guest brykins Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I used to have an SPV-C500....loved it to bits, but missed the functionality of a "real" PDA, so I sold it and got myself a T-Mobile MDA Compact (Imate Jam). Love it....but my contract will be up for renewal (UK O2) in January so I am making a start on the selection of the new phone..... Now, O2 recently have added the SDA II (C550) on thier list and as it's free with a new contract, I ought to get one cheap on upgrade. I loved my C500 and the C550 would be ideal as it has the larger screen and the keypad....I miss the keypad for texting on my MDA Compact. However....I like the touch screen as it makes it so much easier for navigating. So....my question is: Are there any Smartphones in the C500/C550/C600 form factor (ie, with a keypad) with a QVGA screen and a touchscreen? Ideally with WiFi as well?

Guest brykins Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Not yet, but the HTC Blizzard is coming : http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=227931&hl=blizzard That would be perfect but.....(a) guess no-one knows the releaqse date yet and (;) my contract will be up for renewal in January and I think that this will be just too much money then....looks like it'll be the XDA SP/Hurricane as that's available and availabe cheaply/freely!
Guest JBW Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Well, not exactly what you are looking for, as it is a PPC rather than a smartphone, but the HTC Wizard is a pretty nice compromise. Slightly thicker than the Jam, but with a slide out qwerty keyboard. Tmobile was supposed to get it in october but I believe they pushed it back until the end of november. The smartphone OS doesn't support touch screens so you won't see that, but you might see pocketPCs that more closely resemble smartphone form factor. Its a shame the treo 700w is being released as CDMA first, otherwise that would also be a good choice for what you are looking for. ~JBW
