Guest xspyda Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Well, after beating the system and getting hold of not one but TWO M500's this week on upgrade, I am sad to say that one of them is going back. The missus is happy with hers though so she will be keeping it. I have tried and tried to like this phone but after a few days of playing and trying various different apps, I have to say I am not all that impressed. Admittedly, had it got Line 2 support I may have persevered for a while but that was a big decider for me. Add to this the lack of wireless, the relatively small internal memory and the exclusion of an external SD card and I can't help but thinking I am in posession of a rather dated phone - not in terms of age but in terms of spec. It looks great, and has a nice display but to my way of thinking it's a pain to use and is not all it's cracked up to be! Now ... where did I put my c500 again !?
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 As a phone the M500 was (and still is partly) a disappointment for me personally. So I understand what you mean. Line2 was not an issue for me, but it has been known for some time now Lack of wireless is easily rectified by adding a WiFi card Small memory is easily rectified by the Hard/Soft Reset and not loading all the O junk External SD card? What do you mean? Mine has an SD slot in the top Still, the thing I keep coming back to myself, is that as a phone it just isn't easy enough to use (even after 3 months)
Guest xspyda Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Line2 was not an issue for me, but it has been known for some time nowYep, I was hoping I could live without it but I use my ED50 far too much! Lack of wireless is easily rectified by adding a WiFi cardDone that and I was impressed with that, especially when combined with some of the freely available apps for access to files across the LAN. Card was not wasted as my better half has that now. Small memory is easily rectified by the Hard/Soft Reset and not loading all the O junkI guess that's a work around but still, 64MB in a pocket PC seems a little, shall we say economical. External SD card? What do you mean? Mine has an SD slot in the toplol - as do most other M500's I would assume. My point was that O chose to ship it without the SD card which seems a little odd. I am not sure about other networks, perhaps they are not as tight?! Still, the thing I keep coming back to myself, is that as a phone it just isn't easy enough to use (even after 3 months)Funnily enough, I find it quite good as a phone ... if a little on the large side. I used it with fingers in the main though as I can't be doing with the stylus all the time and if you intend to do that, you need damn small fingers! I am glad I tried it though - made me realise the value of my trusty c500! ;)
