Okay im trying to encode a video file but coming up with the message:

There is not enough free space on the destination disk

Available free space : 1184Mo

Free space needed 1260Mo

Whats Mo and how can i create free space?

And if i do manage to encode the file ... if i activesyn it to my device, would it be quicker if i chose not to convert the file? (would it still work also?)

Cheers Wal

I think 'Mo' is the French for megabyte (mega octet).

Ensure that you have enough free space on the destination drive. To free space, you have to delete unwanted files ;) As for the file transfer, it is advisable to do it via a card reader/writer especially for really big files. I disable 'conversion' on ActiveSync and encounter no problem whatsoever.

What would my phone be without GPC ;)

Does disabling it make it quicker?

Just deleted a load of unwanted stuff and nothings changed :?:

Am I deleting from the wrong place? Would the destination disk be c:/ ?

Hahaha.

I think the conversion applies to some of the most common file extensions like bmp, rtf, txt, MS worksheet. Now as long as your video files are well associated with a player (xvid avi with TCPMP, wma with WMP etc) then it will not have problems with playback regardless of 'conversion' option being enabled or not. Haven't actually noticed any difference in speed.

If you are using PocketDivX encoder then maybe the temporary dump folder is C:\Temp. Not sure about that though.

Im using pocket divx encoder

using it on ppc mode (Therefore 320x240) and the file is about 230mb (Wil check soon as im on my mobile) and is already an .avi and tryin to encode it 2 an .avi of about 115mb

nothing other than the hard drive.

i dunno i'd try a different video encoding program, one with a bit more flex so that you can configure more settings about video compression 2 ensure you get the best file size vs quality.
