Guest lardy Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I have just used the sunnysoft backup trial, and for some reason at the end of backing up my phone reset... and windows then said it didnt recognise my USB device. I reset windows... installed the ROM update on my C500 and then when i restored the backup file, it gets all the way through, and then RIGHT at the end says. "error, corrupt backup file!" GREAT... although i go through my phone and everything is actually restored, so not too bothered. BUT my text messages aren't there!! That was the single thing i assumed would be fine, but i still have the .bkp file that sunnysoft created. Basically my question is... I checked out the 'messaging' folder inside the windows directory... (is this where txts are stored?) and there were loads of files that i can only assume are my texts!? I am wondering why my phone wont recognise the fact that the txts are on my phone? Is there a registry entry that can be changed? or some other way of unpacking the .bkp file and copying over the lost texts?? Thanks for ANY help from anyone! Cheers
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Sunnysoft apps have always been a problem in the past, especially if you try to delete them off the phone. Your SMS are in a file called CEmail.vol I do nto know a way to retrive them from the sunnysoft back up. Your best bet would be to contact them and see if they have a solution for extracting their file system.
Guest lardy Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 (edited) Damn... i wish i hadn't chosen compressed file for the backup, and maybe everything would be left out in the open? I just tried another backup of my phone and it all went perfectly... it didn't reset at the end and nothing weird happened at all. Damn again, why did it have to go wrong the most important time? Even if i could get the txt file out from the old bkp file how would i copy over the old one? I can't even copy the new one from my phone directory, it always says the file is in use etc! Any advice? I'll give Sunnysoft a quick email and ask what i could possibly do... trouble is i was only using the evaluation copy so not sure how much they would want to help out someone who hasn't bought their program yet?!?
