media_remote_sel2.bmpmedia_remote_sel2.bmpI have found all sorts of useful things on MoDaCo in the last few weeks, and I thought this might be useful for others...

I wanted to use the windows media player plugin on my home screen. However, I wanted the background of the plugin to change in the same way as that of all other plugins on the home screen.

First I added bgcolor to the default format state tag at the top of the home.xml. You could make it transparent, but I made it the same colour as that of the other plugins to make it easier to change the colour scheme:

That helped a lot for the media player plugin background on selection. However, this had a side effect; the MRU plugin got the same selected background colour as the background colour of the icon with focus. So, in the MRU plugin, I added a highlight colour:

If you want the MRU background to be transparent, then I think it is:

This should work to change the background of the media player on selection, to the same colour of the selected state background of the other plugings.

However, before I got to understand the second step, I had already switched tactics, and I decided to ignore the xml and simply change the background pics of that came with the plugin. The background images that come with it include on for the selected state and one for the not-selected state. Both have a transparent colour around the line and oval shape of the plugin image.

So I took the one that is made for the selected state, media_remote_sel.bmp, I looked up the hex colour of the background in the tag, and used an image editor to change the background in the image from the transparency pink to the blue I needed. I attach the file (and hope the original author does not mind!).

Once I was at it I also played with the WMP plugin image for the unselected background, where you can use the oval to put your name, number or whatever text. I put 'reward if lost' in one of my versions, and I attach that file for those who are not into editing graphics.

I hope this will help someone!

PS The blue I used is that of the Windows Default home screen in a Qtek 8020.
