Increasing volume on my SMT 5600

I am new to this forum and need some help. Does anyone know of a way for the Audiovox SMT 5600 to increase the volume of the speaker and earpiece?

I have Smatione so I can access my registry. I've read something about rom updates but I'm not sure if that helps the volume any or how to apply them.

Thanks

It's a weird ass volume set-up on this phone. Messed with it for weeks before I figured out that the outdoor profile actually ups the speaker volume beyond the max volume of other modes. Sounds almost louder then the lil speaker can handle at max. Makes sense I guess, but I'd prefer a universal (ie. normal) volume. All I know is the Outdoor profile plays mp3s, movies and ringtones much louder. So I just keep mine on that.

Let me share what I've just recently learned from another post. You need to Edit the Profiles in the Settings menu. Scroll down to System Sound Volume and turn it to "Loud". Normal and Headset are only set to "3". From the factory, only the Outdoor and Speaker phone profiles are set to Loud. Set all the Profiles you use to Loud.

Then, just use the speaker volume buttons on the outside of the phone to adjust the volume if it's too loud.

Enjoy. :)

I agree a more versatile volume control would be nice. I keep my profile set to Outdoor as well, however I still notice a considerable difference between the volume of my mp3 ringtone and the same mp3 when played thru WMP, the ringtone being much louder.

Wish there was some way to keep them equal.

ETA: Ok I just realized that WMP does have it's own volume control. I changed the assigned keys for the volume control by hitting the right softkey to enter 'menu', then option 7 'options', then option 6 'buttons', then scroll down to 'volume up' or 'volume down',(you can stop here if the default option is ok with you) press the right softkey for 'menu', option 1 'assign', now choose your preffered volume button. Exit back to WMP and adjust the volume up. ahhh much better eh?
