Guest deccoo Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Have just got my M500 (at last may I say, but thats another story!) and have setup access to my tiscali email account on it. I can receive emails on it fine but when it comes to sending, no matter who I'm sending it to, I get the following message: Your message was not sent and has been moved to the drafts folder. The following recipients are invalid: [email protected] I have double checked to make sure the recipient email address is correct and have tried playing about with the outgoing mail setting but to no avail! Can anyone help? Is this a problem isolated to tiscali because I can both send and receive on my orange.net email account?
Guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 What network is the phone on, and what are you using for your outgoing mail setting? Normally this kind of problem is if you are using your Tiscali settings to send, rather than your phone network setting.

Settings are as follows: Incoming mail server: pop.tiscali.co.uk Outgoing mail server: smtp.tiscali.co.uk Domain: Blank Then after that I'm not sure what to use! Have the option of 'Require SSL connection' and 'Outgoing mail server requires authentication'. Have tried all combinations of these two and still no luck? Where would I need to enter my phone settings? I was assuming the issue would be with the communication between tiscali and the phone?
Guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 That's probably it then, to send email, you need to use the Orange SMTP settings, not Tiscali (because you are using Orange to send them, not Tiscali) SO, if you make your outgoing mail server, smtp.orange.net and see how you get on with that. That's assuming you're using GPRS to connect.
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Watch out though ... O's SMTP service does just stop for no apparent reason (for days on end sometimes) meaning you cant send mail. If you have a hosted domain you might find you can use your providers SMTP service instead.
Guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Server problems (though not Orange) are one of the reasons I've moved to using Gmail (via Pocket IE). Can't really fault it at the moment.
