Guest pjam001 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Everytime I close down Tomtom on my C500 the backlight stays on and I have to reboot the phone to reset this to normal. A collegue has a C550 with Tomtom and he doesn't have this backlight problem. Does everyone have this problem with the C500 or is there a registry fix? Cheers
Guest whitestar Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 What version of TomTom do you have? I'm using version 5 without any problems on a C500 with 4.2.1.2 ROM
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 It's a known bug with TomTom5 and is caused by playing with the backlight settings in the TomTom app. Pain to fix as you need to reboot the phone.

Guest pjam001 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 (edited) I remember playing with them when I first got it but don't mess anymore and still have the problem each time I use it. Tomtom 5 by the way. Would copying the original files back onto my larger card fix this, without messing with my settings again? Is there a specific combination of settings that work? I like to have the screen permanently on when using Tomtom. Cheers Edited October 31, 2005 by pjam001
Guest pjam001 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Re-Copied most files and no change.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 The bug is with TT5 and yep you could try copying the files over again and see what happens.
Guest pjam001 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 (edited) Copied all files back over and performed a factory restore. Didn't work. I can't believe the way tomtom5 works on a c550 can be so different to a c500. I was running c500 ver 4.2.1.2 but updated yesterday to 4.2.1.4. just in case it would fix it. Any other ideas? Thanks Edited October 31, 2005 by pjam001

Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi I Have TT5 on a C500 and have no issues with Backlight, Stays on when TT5 is running and goes back to power save mode when i Exit TT5. i always exit through the menus if you don't TT5 will still be running in the background. Using ROM 4.2.1.4 Edited November 4, 2005 by MGTF
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 The backlight issue was on the retail version but did not appear on beta versions that are doing the rounds.
Guest pjam001 Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I also always exit through the menus. Its annoying that a C550 works ok. I've looked through the registry at the various backlight settings but haven't come up with anything. (Although I'm no expert at this). One thing I have noticed is that when I manually change my backlight settings on my phone I have to reset the phone before the new settings take effect. I don't recall this happening on the previous c500 firmware. (Although I may be wrong) Just wondered if this could have anything to do with the problem. I never believe that problems can't be fixed in some way.
