Guest maxpain Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) I got a windows 2003 se rover m1 (our russian phone, which reminds of unmanufactured motorola mpx100) The problem is that at the begining i set an mp3 for a ringtone, everything was fine it played ok but then at some point instead of my mp3 i heard some polyphonic ring. I went to the sound settings tried to put my mp3 back again but after i chose it it didnt play in the settings and didn't let me return to the main settings unless i chose any default ringtone from windows directory. (pushing done just didnt work) Any other mp3 had the same problem. I made a hard reset, everything was fine for some time, my mp3 was working well, when it happened again... Theres nothing else wrong with the device, the media player does play mp3s, but i just cant get them to play as a ringtone. By the way wav files do play as ringtone... Would be very greatful for some help... Edited November 1, 2005 by maxpain
Guest jm012a9749 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) You could try setting the ringtone with the program i've attached Its called RJV Tone Setter by Rey Vegafria. Allows you to set nearly any sound file for any type of alert on your phone ;) Might work. Let me know :D edit : attachment removed - get RJV ToneSetter direct from Airfaghev.com Edited November 1, 2005 by Disco Stu
Guest maxpain Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) Unfortunately doesnt work. Even makes the wav file (which is now my ringtone) change for the same crippy polyphonic ringing... Edited November 1, 2005 by maxpain
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Is your phone actually a Pocket PC device ? If so, you won't fix the problem with Smartphone software. Moved to PPC PE Help section
Guest maxpain Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Did i say it was a ppc??? It's a smartphone like mpx220 with the same 2003 se windows!
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 No. but you said it was like the MPx100 which was  I'll move it back then ;) Should have done my research first :

Guest Disco Stu Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Have you installed something like TCPMP which has taken over the association with MP3 files ? Try uninstalling it if so and see if that helps. Might also be that the MP3 file got corrupted ?
Guest maxpain Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Wow! Changing the assosiation back to media player did work! Thanks, dont know why i didnt come up with it myself, i've got a big experience with mpx220... Thanx again!
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Glad to help......especially after getting myself confused earlier on ! The problem is quite common - many members have reported it.
