Guest rodg98133 Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 Hi all, I'm new to all this but I what i do know is that I am after some formof PDA phone. I was looking at the m2000 or te m5000. Or the XDA's. I am not sure what to go for but i have around £150 - £200 to buy a second hand phone. Either I need advice on where to get these for this price and also what the best one to get is?? Please Help!!
Guest Pondrew Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 Well, if you're serious about sticking to your £200 ceiling on a second hand phone the M5000 is out, they'll be selling on Ebay for £300+ for a long time to come. For that amount of money you should be able to get an MDA Compact/SPV M500 or alternatively an MDA III/SPV M2000. Both good devices for different reasons, the first for form factor, the second for features and spec.
Guest rodg98133 Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 The SPV isnt a full PDA though is it?
Guest Emad Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 The M500 is the Orange version of the Magician.
Guest Samsonite Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 The SPV M500 is the HTC Magician is the Qtek S100 is the XDA II mini and is a full PDA - but no WiFi... ;) a device that runs Pocket PC Phone Edition (PPCPE) has the same functionality as a PDA but has a phone in it too. As for which the best, it will depend on what you main concerns are. Size and phone function were mine so the magician won. IF i was happy to have a larger device cos i have a big hand and head then i would have plumped for the M2000 unit but its horses for courses really.
Guest rodg98133 Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 As the m500 has no wi-fi would i be able to connect through my bluetooth on my pc to my broadband? This was one of the main features that i liked about these phone??

Just remembered, basic info and pics of the HTC Pocket PC Phones available (including different brand names) are here

I didn't realise the same phone was called so many things. Would the net be slower if i did it through bluetooth rather than wi-fi? Or would i still get BB speeds?
Guest fraser Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Would the net be slower if i did it through bluetooth rather than wi-fi? It downloads from WiFi a lot slower than my laptop can, so it's not maxing out the WiFi to its limit. With BT, the PC needs to be turned on to surf. And if your PC is on, why not just surf on it? That logic is why WiFi worked for me; I can just surf from almost anywhere. Just need an access point, I have my own and there are many open ones in the city. Hell, a couple of the pubs I go to have it. Free internet, canny beat it!

Guest Pondrew Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Moved to Pocket PC section ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oops, where did I leave it?! :D
