Will flashing MPX200 to 2003 SIM unlock?

Hey all - did some research on the forums but coudln't find anything about it. Even though Cingular bought At&t, they will not support it. Go figure. Anyways I heard that if I flashed my new / used MPX200 (which I have done on a previous one) to 2003, then the SIM unlock would not be required.

I have previously had a Mpx200 on 2002 unlocked. I flashed it to 2003 and it re-locked the phone!?!?! :cry:
