Have you tried one of the alternatives to the standard media player? Do these have the tsss sound too? (eg pocketmusic, core media player)

There is absolutely no tsss sound that I'm aware of. Did you synchronise with WMP10? If you did, try drag and drop the files individually instead of using WMP. See if there is a difference as WMP tends to screw up my music files during synchronisation.

The ROM on the phone is the latest one. There should not be any new ROMs. The ones on the imate web site should be identical.

No tsss sound here either. Not with dance music and not with classical (with some real low volume parts in it). Crisp and clear sound, I'm quite impressed with the sound that comes standard with the phone.

Might wanna try different MP3's besides the ones that were preloaded on the card.

There is a large thread in the C500 forum where somebody made a test file to highlight the tsss sound on that device - last time I looked it was stickied at the top of the C500 forum (a while ago). Can't remember the geezers handle unfortunately.

But that's a test done on the C500. We're talking about the SP5(m) now.

still wouldn't hurt to do the test though. that way he can isolate the problem whether it's the same or not. link to soundbug thread. you can get the test file from there.

Try another MiniSD card of a different brand, some are better than others. Japanese cards are the best (look for location of manufacture on the back).

Alternatively you may have a duff unit, fault with capacitors/filters such that you're hearing electronic crosstalk.

any news about the tss sound? did it go away by doing anything that was posted here or is the phone defective? I wanna get one badly, but until this problem is cleared I guess I'll just wait.
