Universal, Blue Angel or Wizard?

although i will be requesting my second battery, it wont really do any good, because unlike the m2000 you cant charge a battery through the cradle seperate from the phone, because there is no cradle.

I am currently umming and ahhing about whether to go for the Universal or for the M2000 (or even changing nets for the Wizard) and the above comments about batteries and lack of a cradle make me think the M2000 might be the better bet, currently.

Ricky (or anyone else) can you tell me what the differences are in spec between the M2000 and the M5000 (and the M3000/Wizard), other than the obvious form factor differences.

I have not yet found a site where I can compare the feature sets alongside each other apart from the O2 XDA site, which doesn't have the M3000 on it

I'm after wifi, built in retractable keyboard, bluetooth and line 2 functionality and would like to be able to use a bluetooth headset to make calls and Tom Tom 5 while in the car. I also want something that actually comes with enough RAM to run the OS effectively with something like TT5 installed.

Not too bothered about which OS I have onboard (don't mind not being bleedin' edge). Just want a device that actually functions as advertised.

I'd also like Word to work well as I'd like to try and use it in place of a laptop for meetings and briefings.

I currently own a C500 and had an E200 previous to that, so I am sold on the move to Windoze, especially since I recently lost my Apple Powerbook and am unable to replace it under insurance...

Any links, pointers or further questions to pinpoint which would be the best choice for my needs would be most appreciated.

Kind regards,

James

Have you checked out the specs of the devices here?

Aside from line 2 functionality the Blue Angel serves all your requirements BUT it is getting a little long in the tooth and if you're thinking of buying from Orange you've no way of knowing if you'll get the older rom WITHOUT Windows Media Player 10 (Orange often deny different roms exists which is REALLY dumb given some peeps have received the SPV M2000 with a newer rom on it).

The newer devices are very tempting but without the cradle and bugs may yet to show themselves. No idea about line 2 functionality.

Finally... good luck! ;)

Thanks for your reply Pondrew, very kind of you. The link to the specs is very useful...hadn't seen that before....I guess I'll have to wait and see whether the M5000 has line two functionality.

I'd read about WMP 9 and 10 appearing on different M2000s. Shame they can't get their s**t in order...

I noticed you'd mentioned HTC had downgraded their BT stacks on some of their devices, could you tell me if the M2000 has the old or the new (downgraded stack)?

From memory the Imate specs the PDA2k (their badged version of the Blue Angel) as only having bluetooth 1.1 ;)
