Guest chucky.egg Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 I'm no expert but it looks OK NMEA 0183 is the crucial thing AFAIK, and that talks it so you should be OK
Guest trevormuk Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 This item is great. I have this one which I actually bought from this supplier (through his ebay shop), and paid £45. Battery life is incredible, I have only had to charge the battery once! I use mine with my MDA Compact. Hope this helps T
Guest fraser Posted November 4, 2005 Report Posted November 4, 2005 Looks 100% identical to mine, labeled as a different company however. (this happens all the time). It's my first GPS, so no comparisons to anything else, but I've no complaints about it. Small, light, easy to use.
Guest rodg98133 Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 would it fit in your pocket? I aint gotta ruler with me and would not know from the sizes given.
Guest shadamehr Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Not wanting to sound STUPID, but if I got me one fo these for my SP5 SmartPhone nice and cheap, what are you guys then doing for mapping software etc? What do you use, and how much? Anyone?
Guest p2daz Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I have used this device on Destinator on my c500 and at the moment with Tom Tom 5 on my m500 and it works great - no problems, it almost picks up at least 1 satellite as quick as the wifes tom tom go 300. As for size - about the same size as a small pager or a packet of swan matches! cheers
Guest Scarfman007 Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I've not had GPS since my Moto A920, but this looks very tempting! Can anyone else compare it to a more expensive GPS? Cheers, Scarfman007

Cheers, Scarfman007 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With tom tom software :) it's exactly the same as a dedicated tom tom unit. cheers
Guest shadamehr Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Where do you get TomTom 5 Software only in the UK at cheapest price for SP5 SmartPhone?
Guest mcwarre Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Where do you get TomTom 5 Software only in the UK at cheapest price for SP5 SmartPhone? You can't. It can only be legally bought with a TomTom GPS receiver. Hence the wink (nudge, nudge - dodgy copy and all)

Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 With tom tom software :D it's exactly the same as a dedicated tom tom unit. cheers I've got two of these for friends of mine and I have the original TomTom gps (before you say I don't use TomTom or my friends) but this unit performs better than the TomTom GPS unit. Battery life, well it says 20 hours and I have had one running for 8 hours non stop  my TomTom can barley manage 3 hours non stop. Startup, if I haven't used my TomTom for a few days it takes 10 minutes for the first fix. These units get a first fix in a matter of seconds (even when I took it out of the box  ) Transmission range, my TomTom unit will only work up to a maximum of 5 feet away, using these I had them in the window at the office and my desk is over 20 feet away and I could still read them  Also when I am in the office these units will give me a 2D fix on my desk 20 feet away from the window  my TomTom unit has to be on the window itself and I have to wait ages just to get 1 satellite. After driving through tunnels these units reacquire the satellite fix in less than 1 second :) My TomTom takes about 4 seconds ;) These units are 16 channel whereas my TomTom is only 12 channel also the specs say "Superior Urban Canyon Performance" which implies a better chipset than the original TomTom This unit ships with a car charger as well and whats more all this for £49 including VAT and delivery  (they arrive next day) what more can I say. If anyone needs a new GPS and they are not bothered about the latest chipset etc then go for one of these, highly recommended.
Guest minty1978 Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 my friend has this with his nokia phone running tom tom. works very well, will get one for mine when i get the vario (and some tom tom software :) )
