Guest nevawlkalone Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Hi all, For some unkonwn reason, (cant remember why now) i installed beta player on my c550. After a few peopl phoned me in noticed that my ringtone wasnt playing, all i was getting was some miserable sounding intermitent "donk" sound. When i went to test the files using media player they wouldnt play but would in beta....So i reset the file associaton and uninstalled beta and they refuse to play! I was contemplating yet another hard reset but cant be bothered putting all my software back on... Can anyone offer any insight into this problem? Im sure ive seen a thread relating to this topic before so a link to that would be handy if possible. Cheers M
Guest Disco Stu Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Just checking - did you set the file association for MP3s to be Windows Media Player ? That usually clears the problem (after a restart) for most people
Guest monkeygadge Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Have you got your sounds in your default folder or have you moved this using regtweaks or something similar..?
Guest nevawlkalone Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 All the sounds are in the default folder, and the assosiation is set as far as i know. Media Player keeps showing an error saying the "file is corrupt or not read"! But they would play in Beta :?:
Guest nevawlkalone Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Also, the files are not corrupt as i have just checked them on my pc and they work fine!
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 It could be due to mp3 file 'mis'-association. Kindly try this cab file: http://www.gpcarreon.com/GPC%20MP3%20RT%20Fix.cab It will re-associate MP3 files back to WMPlayer.
Guest peekie Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 if you have pocket music installed on a c550 that kills the mp3 in both ringtones and wmp10 even uninstalling it does not help ;)
