Use iPod plug and USB cable to power C500?

I need to charge up my phone to get some fairly important data off it tonight. Unfortunately the power cable has gone missing. However I do have to hand the USB cable for connecting the phone to a computer, and the power plug from an iPod which has a USB socket in it. Would it be possible to charge up the phone using the above safely without any damage to the phone or the adapters?
