C500 Low Memory warning

Recommended Posts

My C500 regularly (several times a day) pop us message "Your phone is running low on free storage space. Delete ols or unusual items to create more space"

When I go in a space maker application within the Accessories section, i can't find what causes it.

The file manager reveals that \Storage\windows\Messaging\Attachements\ folder is responsible for the majority of the space usage.

Does anyone know if it is safe to wipe the contents of this folder? Has anyone faced the issue that perhaps when you delete emails from the inbox the attachments still remain?

Many thanks.

Space Maker only deletes small things like sms messages.... your problem is probably due to too much photos or videos or music perhaps ?

I don't know what is in these "attachements" files. Unlikely to be music or videos.

I think I have the same problem... I have removed everything, but I still get the message. Can we delete everything in the attachment folder?

Any luck?

Attach phone to PC and use ActiveSync to delete all the .mpb files in \Storage \Windows \Messaging & \Storage \Windows \Messaging \Attachments.

Clearly you will lose all your SMS & emails.

As Wally suggests though, the problem is more likely to be caused by storing too many ringtones & homescreens on the phone. Uninstall any third-party software that is in phone memory and reinstall onto the storage card. Move music & video files to the storage card.

Finally restart the phone and hopefully the problem will be cleared. If not you're looking at a hard reset :)

I haven't downloaded any ringtones or homescreens, I have only installed SmartNotes. I don't have a storage card. I went ahead and deleted all the files and recycled the phone. I will see what happens from here.

I also plan to install the latest MS ActiveSync... I have 2 items that are unresolved when sync'g... I think these items may be recurring items from Outlook. I don't see anyway to fix this.

Are there any new updates that the phone needs, if so, where can I get them?

I've deleted contents of the folder and the message stopped popping-up after....

..Only to re-appear after synchronisations couple of days later.

I'm not an AS / Outlook expert but, if you aren't given the option to resolve them, would it not be easier to find them on the PC's Outlook and delete them ?

Also in AS Options you can change the rule for conflict resolution so that either phone or PC is saved.

You need to look on Audiovox's website or your operator / network's site for these. Have a look in our Typhoon section to see if any have been discussed because I don't think any updates have been released for the SMT5600.

I can't check this at the moment but isn't there a rule for syncing messages in there somewhere too ?

Or is it in Outlook ?
