So.. What are you upgrading to?

My c500 contract has just run out, just wondered what everyone is upgrading to.

Here's my thoughts:

HTC Universal would be great but its too dam big.

HTC Wizard looks great, has windows 5, keyboard and WiFi but cant run skype properly (due to processor?) and hasn't got 3G.

So im waiting for the HTC Hermes (May 2006) which has a better processor and 3G! + better camera.

Im kind of thinking that the wizard doesn't give me much more functionality (that I'll actually use) than my current c500 so I think I can wait until May for the Hermes, maybe.

i think i am going to go for the Samsung SGH i300...as it will be supported by the BMW 5 series on bluetooth.

anyone know if it is coming to orange...or will it be a buy without contract?

Was waiting for the C600 but couldn't be bothered waiting any more so I went for the M1500 - a load of rubbish, so got the returns package this morning and its going back. Will wait for the C600 again although I'm slightly tempted by the M5000 but its a bit bulky ;)

Tried the M500 but that's gone back. Was going to try the M5000 but the size is just not good enough and they don't have any in stock anyway.

Waiting for the M3000 myself (I know it's not supposed to be launched in the UK but I am sure it will .... eventually). Failing this, I will just get one sim free!

Will lose my Line 2 but with Orange's 'simplification' program I doubt that will remain for long anyway!

Why not port to another network? There are some great deals on the wizard on voda and t-mobile now (250 text = 13mb gprs on voda)

I'll be giving the M5000 a try, after giving up on waiting for the C600. The lack of wifi is a blow for me, as it means the handset has very little more to offer than my c500 practically.

M5000 ordered on upgrade today, be here tue/wed

I was thinking of porting but would really rather stay on the Orange Network as most of the people who call me are on Orange, so makes sense.

Happy to buy sim free though, just need to decide where from!

Indeed it was. At about 11.30 am this morning....

The orange website said out of stock, and it would cost me 150 squid, with no upgrade fee, and when I called yesterday, same story and out of stock...

Was ringing around today and found that Portsmouth have them in stock... Set off, when they called me to tell me that it would be 200 squid + 150 upgrade fee!!!

Promptly turned around, stewing and mumbling to myself...

Pulled over, if only to confirm the cost from orange direct (150, '4' then '1'), "That will be 150 pounds all in sir"

"And I suppose you don;t have any in stock for upgrade ;) "

"We do actually!!!"

Job done...

Anyone know why an orange shop would quote me a different price?

A lot of fuss but at least it came good for you in the end!

The Orange shops work independently of Orange Direct I believe and therefore work on their own pricing structures.

It seems that Orange Direct and the Orange retentions department work on a different pricing structure still ... and stock allocation!

See my posting HERE for my story ... not happy with O right now :D

May just take my custom to another network and get the phone I REALLY want ;)

Just ditched orange and gone to T-Mobile for the 1st time, went for the Vario. Have to say so far so good & the fone is superb... Customer Services aint bin to bad neither...

I considered it but have stuck with O for now (largely due to the good tariff I have with them) ... and have managed to bag an upgrade to the M5000.

Whether I will keep it or not remains to be seen!

I get annoyed at the way we are told one thing by one Orange rep and something totally different by another. Wonder of TMob will be any more consistent in their support.

Sorry to say it, but my 5600 is on E-Bay and I've been using the Samsung I730 for a few weeks now.. All I can say is WOW, this thing rocks.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my 5600 as well, but the I730 just leaves it in the dust for me. The size is definitely bigger however, that's the one and only thing I miss about my 5600.
