Guest Rm. Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 (edited) Hello, I have a problem. Today my MPx220 worked just fine, everything was ok unless my phone says "very low battery" I said ok, put it on my recharger and went away. When I came back, I see that my phone is off and it's not recharging ;) I can't force it to recharge in any way. I tried normal recharger (left it there for many hours) and recharging with USB cable. Nothing works. I can't turn it on at all. Do you know why and mainly WHAT TO DO? Thanks in advance ... :D Edited November 9, 2005 by Rm.
Guest monkeygadge Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Try taking the battery out and letting it sit for a while. Then put the battery back in. Don't switch it on, but put it on to charge. You should get a blue screen with a 3D battery image filling up in green. If you get this, leave it to charge overnight, then switch it on in the morning. If you suffer from low battery performance, you may want to reflash your phone, AFTER charging it this way overnight.
Guest m1.carson Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 I'd add to monkeys reply, put the battery somewhere quite warm,[not hot] for a while so it gets warm throughout, over a radiator for instance, put it back in the phone then try to charge it. Question for you monkey, after a full charge, does a hard reset really bring a battery back to life.?
Guest monkeygadge Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 They always recommend that you hard reset on a full battery. I have my suspicions about not doing this. I have flashed my phone before when I had not fully charged it, and it had really bad battery life. I read about this problem and charged the phone whilst it was switched off overnight. Then reflashed and it had remarkably improved life. I'm not sure but I think that during flash/hard reset the phone takes the current life as 100%, then later when you charge the phone stops charging the battery when it reaches 100% - which would not be the physical 100% of the battery??? Maybe someone else can answer this?? Parkalas?

You can tell by putting in an already charged new battery and the phone should work fine but when you attach the charging cable, the "charge in progress" icon will not appear on the phone. If your phone is still under warranty you should be able to get a replacement.
Guest Farcorfe Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 A similar thing happened to me last week. The charger would not charge the pohone, nor would the USB cable. They both worked on a friends phone, so I took my phone to the local Moto service centre. After 2 hours they had repaired it - the internal connection of the charging contacts was broken. If you still have warranty cover, suggest you go to the service centre. As a side note, the service centre forced me to sign an acknowledgement that they will wipe everything from the phone, i.e. do a firmware reinstall. (No sign, no repair) I was annoyed that they would do this before even investigating the hardware problem. I was previously using GoTone 3.46 ROM, and now back to "official" 1.39. No, the 3.46 did NOT cause the problem as it was fine for a month or more.
Guest Rm. Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Yesterday I got replacement. That was really just a hardware problem, nom I'm happy again :) thx for your answers.
Guest Paraklas Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 A replacement battery or phone?
Guest oher Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 Hi all; I have used MPX-220 since 10 days. I have seen this problem on my phone. I think that the base of this problem is recharching with USB cable. If you often use USB cable, during this period, phone is recharching or seems to be like recharching. But, telephone is not fully recharge and suddenly phone says" very low battery" in spite of level of battery is normal. For this reason, you use normal charger. With best regards.. quote=Rm.,Nov 9 2005, 19:53] Hello, I have a problem. Guest SuperCharger Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 The MPX220 recharger pins are notorious for failing after use. It is either the cable has been damaged or some of the pins are not connecting properly to the terminal, which would mean a problem with the phone. try pulling down on the cable (if holding phone face up, pull towards ground) and see if it connects and begins to charge. if that happens its the phones problem, I would recomend purchasing a battery charger off ebay (the ones that charge the battery by itself, removed from phone) they are very cheap and you can get another battery too for cheap, thats what im doing
Guest SuperCharger Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Oh, and I dont know why, but when you recharge with the usb to your computer, even if it says 100% the battery dies faster, dont know why but its true
