bigger = better

Apart from that you *shouldn't* have a problem. The SPV e200 had a problem with dual layer cards but I've never come across another device that has had problems with any card. Probably best to get the supplier to confirm it will work with the Universal then you can get your money back if it doesn't.

I'm using an old Sandisk 1Gb card I had lying around but 4Gb ones are just starting to appear.

What minimum read speed if I want to play movies and music??

is up to 5mb speed (40x) sufficient for that?

Mine is single speed and I have no problems playing movies and vids. extra speed makes no difference (apart from to the price)

I use a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II SD. Got it for £75 + £2.50 p+p (Royal Mail Special Delivery) from a company called Bristol Cameras. I now have close to 900 songs on it :)

Try froogle to shop around for the best price. As for manufacturer, IMO you can't go wrong with Sandisk.
