ActiveSync not syncing some of my appointments?

Right folks - so much for a trouble free time with my new i-mate SP5... I was up til 3am last night trying to sort this out...

You see, last night my g/f and I were at a Business Meeting, and she was asked if she was free to sign off on a big contract next friday at 4pm.

Now, she having a Nokia 6230i that doesn't handle repeat appointments, she couldn't check her own phone to see if she was free, in terms of her other daytime job, which has a curious repeat pattern.

But I checked mine, and it at first looked like she was free, until I had a better look, and noticed NONE of her daytime work rota entries were on my phone - bummer.

So when I got back home, and did a re-sync, and expected this to fix it...

Nope. Nearly all my other entries were there, but none of her work rota entries - my most common diary entry!

So, I deleted the whole mobile device partnership, and re-set it up, and still no joy...

Mmm - so methinks, maybe its because it's a repeat entry first set up way back, and maybe somehow the sync is missing it becasue its set for "from two weeks in the past onwards".

So I change it to ALL previous appointments, and try again...

And still no joy... Nightmare.

Eventually, I finally managed to sort this by ploughing through TWELVE WEEKS of entries on the PC/Outlook side, opening them up as a series, pretending to amend the recurrence, and then re-saving with the same time (of course, re-instating any one off deletions in my diary over the last year where I might have deleted a single entry due to her being on holiday etc).

Doing this, I found the entries DID sync over ok.

BUT, I have no problem with Active Sync 3.8 and a C500 syncing these fine - the issue is when using AS4.0 or 4.1 and my sp5.

Even my previous Symbian Nokia 6680 which CAN sync repeat items unlike a 6230i Series 40 Nokia, had all these items on it sync'ed fine.

So a word of warning - to check you have everything - as this problem obviously does not engender any warning messages - they just don't sync some items over it seems.

I even noticed that from playing around, if I amend Contacts on the PC, ActiveSync spots this, and auto-syncs. But if I amend contacts on the phone side, while connected to ActiveSync, AS does NOT spot this, and I have to force a sync on the phone to update it - as the sync button is not even available on the PC side as it thinks its up to date.

So what I am saying is that aside from the connection problems with AS4.0/4.1 that MS has already acknowledged, it seems to me that AS4.0 or 4.1 has OTHER big problems too, of not even syncing items overon a random basis.

And just to clarify before people ask where they private, or "Out of Office" or "Tentative" etc...

It should be matterless anyhow, cos like I said, a Nokia 6680 syncs them ok, as does a C500 with AS3.8...

Nightmare. Had massive bags under my eyes by 3am when I was finally sorted...
