Guest emyllis Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 I have a series of mpeg videos of music... They're mainly 40 megs - Is there a simple program I can use to change the size of the files down to a smaller size (e.g. suitable for my C500)? Thanks
Guest w411y Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Use PocketDivX to encode them... you can resize the image size, audio/video quality etc etc to get the video the size u need....but you will need TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) installed on your c500 to play them. Both are free just make a google for them ;)
Guest MiG:uK Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 (edited) im guessing the mpeg videos are more than likely in 320 x 240 resolution if they are mpeg. firstly DivX is the codec you want, 250kbps video is the quality you want, @ 25fps, and with 96kbps MP3 Audio, or better still 128kbps MP3 Audio. A music video will then be along the lines of around 7mb. Edited November 14, 2005 by MiG:uK

Guest emyllis Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 Cheers chaps! I forgot about this thread until I downloaded a Dean Martin video tonight and fancied playing it on my c500. THanks for the answers and apologies for not thanking you earlier...
Guest shadamehr Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Dean Martin? DEAN MARTIN??? D E A N M A R T I N ? Ah well, That's Amore I suppose...
Guest samcool4u Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 since we are the same topic kinda.. could any1 tell me wat resolution size i have to use for c550? is it same as c500? thanks
Guest Matt Kirby Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 320 X 240 I think, in PocketDivx you have to select the Pocket PC option to get the increased res.
Guest shadamehr Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Er no - not if you want to watch them FULL screen. Full screen video on a C500 is 176x220 pixels. Full screen on the newer QVGA screen of a C550, and newer phones such as the SP5 like mine, is 240x320 for full screen video. What I have found though, is that at this newer large size, full screen video needs to have a lower bitrate to play back smoothly on my SP5 that I used to be able to on my 176x220 C500 where i could easily use 300K plus bitrates...
Guest Matt Kirby Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 The C550 is 320x240 (which is QVGA as you said). The Pocket PC default settings give this res, with smooth playback, and in full-screen (if you are using the version of TCPMP that supports full-screen on the C550 - it's a beta I think from here ). I've been using this on my C550 with no probs. Just use the preset for Pocket PC in PocketDivx, use the C550 full screen version of TCPMP, and you'll get great results.
