large file ( movie ) FAST file transfer

Hi All

I have a XDA IIs ( previously owned XDA 1 & 2 ). I have started encoding movies/tv shows which I watch on my phone and I was wondering if anyone knew of some software that would speed up the process of copying the .avi file to the memory card on the PPC ? ActiveSync is really *slow* so I've starting using a card reader ... but this is something else to carry around so I'm thinking there must be something that would let me write directly to the SD card at a higher speed.

Thanks in advance

Jeff

Bluetooth Activesync improves transfer speed. Well, a little :?:

Doing it through ActiveSync will always be slow. A card reader is the fastest solution.

I seem to remember seeing some USB "memory sticks" that let you plug in an SD card - effectively its a card reader, but the size of a memory stick.

Why do you need to carry it with you though? That implies you have a PC/laptop with you that has the movies encoded and stored on?

If that's the case then carrying a card reader seems like a trivial addition.

I remember ages back when I was considering getting a laptop (thankfully I didn't as don't need it so would have been a waste of money) but was keen on getting one of the few models with an SD slot built in...

Or, you could get one of the SanDisk SD cards with a built-in USB port

My one concern is that normally the card would be protected by the card reader, with this method the card (and its contacts) are exposed for the duration of the copy process, which can be several minutes (easily long enough to shut the laptop lid and crush the poor thing

I have one of them, very handy. Came in a pack with the SD card, only added say 10 or 15 quid to the price.

I carry mine for the convience of being able to copy movies/music from a friend (or vice versa), then listen to it on the way home. Plus, you can copy off photos etc for people without needing to configure activesync. It's a very useful addition to the phone, plus I keep my second SD card in it.

This software wont increase the speed of the transfer just make it easier when using PC's without activesync etc, I believe the slowness is not Activesync but the way in which HTC arrange their SD interface.
