Guest GJJ Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Ok please dont think i'm being thick here....but i only just got it on saturday. I've read the manual and its says to hold the power button for 2 seconds to switch it off. But when i do this it only seems to turn the screen off, the phone remains active. Not what it says in the manual. :?: Surely i dont have to pull the battery out to turn the device off fully???? I previously had the C500 which i really liked it was the same princable to turn off and on, push and hold. Is the M500 not the same or am i missing something? cheers G
Guest w411y Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Not too sure as i don't have a ppc (yet) They were designed to hibernate and not fully switch off, try holding the power button for longer? I read somewhere that you should get a message something like ... "Are you sure you want to switch the device off , some data may be lost?" Dont take my word for it though!

Guest w411y Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 If your on a plane put it into flightmode (turns all signals off)
Guest Pondrew Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 W411y is right. You can't turn off the pre WM5 Pocket PC Phones. To turn off the phone choose flight mode, to put the device in standby press the power button once. To leave the screen on but put out the backlight hold for 2seconds.

I dont fly that often but it was just something that had crossed my mind.
Guest Confused Stu Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 There is a way to (in effect) turn your phone actually off without losing your data. If you slide the battery cover down, the phone thinks it's being unplugged and switches off. Now slide the battery cover back and hey presto! The manual says the backup battery should be good for at least 36 hours in this state - but I've never tested this!! Still, handy if you're coming back from a trip with little battery and know you'll need to phone a taxi for the final leg. ;)
Guest skaramanga Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I agree that the manual is misleading, as it does say that about holding the button down to switch it off!
