Guest chickyd Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Right, so the Qtek 9100 - or imate k jam - is only 200MHz. But the I mate jam - or spv m500 is over 400MHz....??? Am I reading this right or are they actually this different performance wise too? I'm gonna pick up a qtek 9100 and was just wondering if there's any difference. As it runs Windows MObile 5 I thought it's have higher spec. :?:
Guest Pondrew Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 It is indeed only running at 200mhz (I think it's 195mhz to be exact) but don't write it off. It may not handle all situations as well as the Intel Xscale at 415mhz but the Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor is apparently quite capable. Did you know it's the same chip as in the HTC Tornado (Imate SP5/SPV C600)?
Guest xspyda Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 It does seem like a step backwards. I have been comparing an M5000 to an M500 today and there is no comparison (in favour of the M500). I am hoping to get my hands on a Qtek 9100 very soon and can only HOPE (having owned both the above two and being seriously unimpressed) that it will out-perform them despite its lesser processor. If not, then I shall stick with the trusty C500 until they get it right in the PPC / Mobile department.
Guest chickyd Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Cheers, I've just been reading that the main problem is with Skype - which i really do want to use with it. I also recall reading tho that there's a beta version of skype which works very well with it. On all accounts it seems the 9100 is the phone of choice right now and every review I've read gives it a great write up. Bring it on... ;)
Guest MitchellO Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 I used to have the XDA Mini (same as SPV M500) and it isn't slower in most applications. The only place I have found it slower is with playing videos. It does fine, but it can't beat the high bitrates than the Mini could play.
