Guest Nel Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Right so I got a little bored with the normal motorola poweroff gif and decided to change it. I found a new replacement gif and put it into the /windows folder (making sure to rename it PowerOff.gif) thinking it would just replace the previous one. Turned off the phone and it showed the new gif, but when its booted back up its just replaced it! So can I just do a reg edit to point it at another file? If so where am I looking?
Guest skippythenurse Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 You can registry edit it. You can have your .gif file in you Documents folder if you want. Just make sure you have the correct path so that it will pick up and run. the registry you want to edit will be under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Splash Screen Look for the value CarrierShutdownBitmap and from there you can direct the path for the image you are looking for. Remember:we are not responsible for any damage done to your phone. Any registry errors are at the hands of the owner, which is YOU. So don't get all mad that your phone went awol on you and then blame it on us. The safest registry edit is one that doesnt' happen. So to reiterate, proceed at your own risk. Go to Omega2008's blog, there are some more edits you might like such as this one.
Guest Paraklas Posted November 16, 2005 Report Posted November 16, 2005 Bear in mind that the Windows folder is erased and re-created each time you boot your phone. Any changes/additions made to that folder will be erased by the default ones after a reboot.

Erm...whats that got to do with the external lcd? That reg entry controls the shutdown screen of the internal screen.
